Richard Lewis was born on 29 June 1947 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. His is the son of William Lewis , a caterer and Blanche, an actress. He is a part of an Ashkenazi Jewish family. He grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, studied in Dwight Morrow High School and received a degree from the Ohio State University. In his teenage, he had appeared in a TV show ‘Candid Camera’. He was interested in performing stand-up comedy, so while he worked as a copywriter for an Ad agency, he also did stand-up at night. He appeared in TV shows like ‘Late night With David Letterman’, ‘Anything But Love’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. He had recurring role in ‘Rude Awakening’ and in ‘7th Heaven’. He endorsed the beverages- Boku and Snapple. He also wrote comic articles for ‘Playboy‘ magazine. He had also done some films like ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights’, ‘Wagon’s East!’, ‘Drunks‘ and ‘Leaving Las Vegas’.
