Cheryl Hines was born on 21 September 1965 in Miami Beach, Florida, USA. She is the daughter of James Hines and Rosemary Graham Harbolt. She was raised in Tallahassee, Florida. She remained the member of Young Actors Theatre throughout high school. She also studied at the Lively Technical Center in Tallahassee. She studied at West Virginia University, Florida State University and finally graduated from the University of Central Florida. She has a daughter Catherine Rose from her husband Paul Young. In 2006 , she participated in Pro-Am Poker Equalizer. Her sister, Rebecca Hines, is a professor in the University of Central Florida.
When she moved to LA, she worked as a personal assistant to Rob Reiner before she started acting. She began doing improvisational comedy at The Groundlings theatre. She also started learning writing for comedy sketches. Her skill in writing was of a great help during her work on ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. She has to her credit, films like, ‘Cheap Curry and Calculus’, ‘Along Came Polly’, ‘Waitress’ and ‘Henry Poole is Here’. She has appeared in several TV shows as well. Some of her TV shows include ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’, ‘Father of the Pride’, ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Hannah Montana’. She is currently also seen in the series ‘In the Motherhood’.
She has been nominated for two Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ in 2003 and in 2006. She won a Gracie Award under the Gracie Allen Awards-2005 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’. She was nominated in Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2006 in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
